TecAccess Partners with American Systems Corporation on U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command Contract

Rockville, VA August 6, 2004 -- TecAccess, a worldwide leader in information technology (IT) accessibility and Section 508 solutions, is collaborating with American Systems Corporation (ASC) on a four-year, 25 million dollar contract for software support to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACIDC).

To better support the information processing and reporting needs of the command and its agents, Army CID recently completed fielding the Army Criminal Investigation/Criminal Intelligence (ACI2) case management system. ACI2 is an integrated enterprise application for the capture, storage, safeguarding, processing, exchange and disposition of information about USACIDC investigations. Under the new contract, ASC will provide program management and information technology support to accomplish the integration, operations, maintenance and enhancement of ACI2 for Army CID and their related organizations, to include support to assist USACIDC in achieving Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capabilities Maturity Model (CMM) Level 3 certification.

TecAccess will work with the ASC technical and management staff to "build in" compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended), and provide technical and testing support during all phases of design, development, testing and delivery of the software to USACIDC. Section 508 requires Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology (E&IT) accessible to people with disabilities. Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in IT, to create new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. The law applies to all Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use E&IT. Under Section 508, Federal agencies must give employees with disabilities and members of the public access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.

"We are pleased that ASC selected TecAccess as their IT/Web accessibility solutions partner for the USACIDC contract. We look forward to working with ASC and USACIDC to insure the delivered software support is fully compliant with Section 508", said Mac McCuller, Vice President for Government Sales with TecAccess.
